Patience

Life is a test of endurance.
It’s a journey, not a race.
The heart needs to realize
at a slow and steady pace.

Take one big step forward
Then a pause to reflect
It’s all a matter of time
and of space, and of respect.

Always tempting to jump ahead
To take that leap of faith
To embrace a familiar feeling
of comfort, warm and safe.

Wiser to observe caution
Be sure that you can cope
Better to know the distance
than to spring across with hope.

Life is a test of endurance.
It’s a journey, not a race.
The mind needs to realize
at a slow and steady pace.

Teetering on the edge of a fall
The soul’s struggle deep
A cavern of internal unknown
that wakes us as we sleep.

There is a delicate balance
In how to act and what to say
Wire thin the element of risk
that the one, could get away.

It’s true that patience is a virtue
The strongest will’s test
An ever necessary struggle
with knowing what is best.

Life is a test of endurance
It’s a journey, not a race
The spirit needs to stabilize
at a slow and steady pace.

The answer may be simple
It’s the question that is obscure
A puzzle with many pieces
If they’ll fit is what’s unsure.

The solution becomes easier
As we discover all of the parts
Take the time to get it right
and we’ll stimulate our hearts.

Patiently putting it all together
Is completing how we feel
Joined as one in body and mind
in a picture of something real.

Life is a test of endurance.
It’s a journey, not a race.
Two hearts need to coincide
at a slow and steady pace.
