Rain

           RAIN

I open my window,
a crack,
just to hear you
You have this way,
a knack,
when I’m near you
I close my eyes
and listen
Imagine the leaves,
their glisten
You relax
and you sooth me
You inspire
and you move me
You put
my mind
at ease
As you breeze
through
the trees
The rhythm
of your tears
It’s music
to my ears
The breath
of a sigh
As the clouds
gently cry

I open the curtain,
the blind
Open my heart,
my mind
I see your
scattered flight
Framed
in morning light
You relax
and you sooth me
You inspire
and you move me
You change
my mood
in an instance
You wash
my worries
to the distance
The tranquility
of the scene
Sprinkles
on my screen
The essence
The refrain
My affinity
for the rain

Glass

      GlassIMG_20150514_155248[1]

Sun through glass
filtered by tree
Silent and still
awakening me
Lift up my eyes
morning anew
Curtains left open
enhancing the view

IMG_20150514_152956[1]Half-empty glass
poured for me
Pills and capsules
numbering three
Medicinal relief
no other way
Medicinal haze
engulfing my day

Water like glassIMG_20150514_153257[1]
shadowed by trees
Calm and complacent
awaiting the breeze
Breath of fresh air
comes out to play
Rippled tranquility
enlivening the bay

Half-full glassIMG_20150514_163720[1]

poured for me
Brother and friend
patient makes three
Medicinal release
freedom and fun
Prescription fulfilled
envisioning the sun

Wings

sky for prose

                  Wings

You used to look up at me
and say the darndest things
“where do you think we would fly to
if only we had wings?”
You would yank at my sleeve
and ask with your blue eyes
Daddy, what do you think a bird thinks
the first time that it flies?”

Outside on the front lawn
father and daughter birds
arms spread and eyes closed
no need for words
After our five minute flight
crisscrossing on air
we would sit on the step
ready to share

“I really love the mountains,
and landing at the top
soaring off a ledge
to where the blue doesn’t stop.”
“I like going really really high,
as high as I can fly
higher than the clouds
to the top of the sky.”

Closing our eyes again
to imagine each others flight
one to the distance
one to the highest height
The bird just feels free
no worries and no fear
It was nice for us to know
that we could always land here
